The Breakdown
On paper, Waller brings the more productive offense into Saturday’s matchup. The Bulldogs have generated 2,053 total yards through four games, an average of 513.25 yards per game, ranking first in District 23-6A. Waller has produced 846 rushing yards and 1,207 passing yards. Cy Park has totaled 1,170 yards, averaging 292.5 per game, with 859 yards rushing and 311 passing.
The contrast becomes even more pronounced on defense. Waller has allowed 1,111 total yards, or 277.75 per game, while Cy Park has allowed 1,290, or 322.5 per game. Waller has been particularly effective against the run, allowing 610 rushing yards through four games, compared with 615 for Cy Park.
The Bulldogs’ passing game is led by junior quarterback Tristin “T.K.” Gaines, who has completed 62 of 102 attempts for 1,207 yards and 13 touchdowns without an interception. His 82-yard completion is the longest pass among the district’s listed quarterbacks. Gaines has also contributed 323 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.
Senior receiver Glowin Mbobile is Gaines’ primary target. Mbobile has 26 catches for 564 yards, an average of 21.69 yards per reception, with six touchdowns. Freshman Makhy Adams has added 217 receiving yards on just eight catches, giving Waller another explosive option in the passing game.
Waller’s rushing attack has been equally productive. Senior Dariyin Smith has 378 yards on 44 carries, averaging 8.59 yards per carry, while Gaines has 323 yards at an 11.54-yard average. Smith has five rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown.
Cy Park’s offense revolves around junior running back William Warren. Warren has rushed 61 times for 459 yards, averaging 7.52 yards per carry, with three touchdowns. He also has 30 receiving yards and has accumulated 495 all-purpose yards. Junior quarterback Triston Whipple adds another running threat, with 173 rushing yards and two touchdowns while throwing for 288 yards and two touchdowns.
The district statistics also show a major difference in passing efficiency. Gaines is completing 60.8 percent of his attempts and has thrown 13 touchdowns without an interception. Whipple has completed 38.8 percent of his attempts, with two touchdowns and one interception.
Cy Park’s defense is led by senior Lovell Iverson and senior Kaden Watkins, who each have 34 tackles through four games. Sophomore Christian Ivey has 31 tackles, while sophomore Daundrel Brown has 24. Watkins has also recorded two blocked kicks.
Waller has several active defenders of its own. Senior linebacker Trace Geigley leads the Bulldogs with 45 tackles, while junior safety Weston Hubertus has 27 tackles and two interceptions. Senior Deshune McGary has seven pass breakups, the most among players listed in the district report, while sophomore Landen Ross has seven quarterback hurries.
Special teams also favor Waller statistically. Junior Omar Alvarez is 18-for-22 on PAT attempts and 2-for-2 on field goals, with a long of 32 yards. Waller punter Weston Hubertus is averaging 31.25 yards on four punts. Cy Park kicker Jaime Benitez is 6-for-8 on PATs and 3-for-5 on field goals, including a 28-yarder.
One area Cy Park will want to improve is the turnover battle. The district report has the Tigers at minus-four in turnover ratio through four games, while Waller is plus-six.

- Glowin Mbobile, WR/CB/Senior: Mbobile has 26 receptions for 564 yards and six touchdowns. His 21.69-yard average makes him one of the district’s most dangerous big-play receivers.
- Trace Geigley, MLB/DE/Senior: Geigley leads Waller with 45 tackles, including 13 solo and 32 assisted tackles. He will be a key part of the Bulldogs’ effort to contain Cy Park’s rushing attack.
Cy Park
- William Warren, RB/Junior: Warren has 459 rushing yards on 61 carries, averaging 7.52 yards per carry. His 55-yard long is also one of the better explosive runs in the district.
- Triston Whipple, QB/Junior: Whipple has thrown for 288 yards and two touchdowns while adding 173 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. His ability to create with his legs will be important against Waller’s defense.
- Lovell Iverson, DB/Senior: Iverson has 34 tackles, including 10 solo and 24 assisted, and is tied for the team lead in total tackles. He will be tested by Waller’s explosive passing attack.
