Cinco Ranch scored touchdowns on four of its first six possessions and forced two critical turnovers to defeat Paetow 28–20 Saturday in District 22-6A play.

The Cougars established control with a pair of long, methodical drives. Cinco Ranch opened the game with a nine-play, 53-yard march that ended with Jaden Hodges’ 11-yard touchdown run. Brayden Gonzalez added the two-point conversion for an 8–0 lead with 8:11 remaining in the first quarter.

After forcing a Paetow punt, Cinco Ranch drove 50 yards in eight plays. Gonzalez finished the possession with a 1-yard touchdown run, extending the advantage to 14–0 late in the opening period.

Paetow responded with its longest sustained drive of the first half, traveling 92 yards in 14 plays. Jaiden Noel connected with Tyler Washington for a 19-yard touchdown, cutting the deficit to 14–6 with 8:01 left in the second quarter.

It took Cinco Ranch only 13 seconds to answer. Hodges broke free for a 61-yard touchdown on the Cougars’ next offensive snap, and Gonzalez ran in another two-point conversion to make it 22–6.

Paetow struck back just 52 seconds later when Noel found Curtis Zeno for a 71-yard touchdown pass. The extra point pulled the Panthers within 22–13.

The Cinco Ranch defense then delivered an important takeaway, intercepting Noel with 2:09 remaining in the half. The Cougars converted the turnover into points, driving 75 yards in nine plays. Derek Berg connected with Rex Rivera for a 33-yard touchdown on the final play of the second quarter, giving Cinco Ranch a 28–13 halftime advantage.

Neither team scored during the third quarter, although Paetow controlled the ball for more than 10 minutes on a 20-play, 76-yard possession. That drive ended with a fumble, denying the Panthers an opportunity to make it a one-score game.

Paetow later turned the ball over on downs with 3:02 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Panthers regained possession one final time and traveled 72 yards in seven plays, with Noel finding Washington for a 22-yard touchdown as time expired to produce the final margin.

Paetow outgained Cinco Ranch 380–280, finishing with 153 rushing yards and 227 passing yards. Cinco Ranch recorded 129 yards on the ground and 151 through the air, but the Cougars’ early efficiency and two defensive takeaways proved decisive.

Hodges led Cinco Ranch with 117 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. He also caught four passes for 44 yards. Gonzalez rushed 12 times for 45 yards and a touchdown while adding three receptions for 20 yards and converting two two-point runs.

Berg completed 13 of 18 passes for 151 yards and a touchdown. Rivera caught two passes for 47 yards, including the touchdown just before halftime, while Max Williams added three receptions for 36 yards.

Noel paced Paetow by completing 12 of 19 passes for 227 yards and three touchdowns. Zeno contributed 46 yards on eight carries and turned his only reception into a 71-yard score. Washington caught two passes for 41 yards, with both receptions resulting in touchdowns.

Louis Ennis led the Panthers’ rushing attack with 53 yards on 16 carries. Anthoni Terrell recorded four catches for 38 yards, while Treyvon Mabry added two receptions for 30 yards and Leron Harry caught two passes for 29 yards.

Cinco Ranch improved to 2–1 overall and 2–0 in District 22-6A. The Cougars will face undefeated Katy, which is 4–0 overall and 2–0 in district play, on September 25.

Paetow fell to 0–4 overall and 0–2 in district. The Panthers will meet Seven Lakes, currently 0–3 overall and 0–1 in District 22-6A, on September 25.
