Matchup History

This will be the 3rd consecutive year the two teams have played. Ridge Point won both games (38-21 in 2024, 31-3 in 2025).

The Breakdown

Ridge Point has already passed two difficult early tests. The Panthers opened with a 29–26 road victory over Dickinson and then delivered a more complete performance in a 28–7 win over Shadow Creek. Bridgeland survived The Woodlands 31–30 before handling Tompkins 35–7.

The Panthers have leaned heavily on quarterback Brody Bartee, averaging 342 passing yards and 421 total yards per game. Receiver John Rangel has emerged as a primary target, while Ridge Point’s defense enters with 12½ sacks through two games. That pressure could become one of the defining factors Thursday. 

Bridgeland provides a different challenge. The Bears’ offense is built around UNLV commit Kash Schwab, who rushed for 1,421 yards and 19 touchdowns last season. He operates behind a powerful line led by Baylor commit Chase Allen and Sam Houston commit Austin Holcomb. Seven offensive starters returned for Bridgeland, giving the Bears an experienced unit capable of controlling possession and limiting Ridge Point’s opportunities. 

Ridge Point enters as the higher-ranked team and owns the more impressive pair of victories, but Bridgeland’s experienced offense and powerful running game should make this significantly more competitive than last season’s 31–3 Panthers victory. 

Ridge Point Head Coach Rick LaFavers: “It is another Top 20 match-up. Another huge challenge for us. Another elite opponent. Bridgeland is coming off of a very dominant win vs a good Katy Tompkins team. In week one they won on the road vs The Woodlands with a walk-off FG. They are a very excellent team and program. Coach Madison and his staff do an excellent job. Bridgeland is very well coached, and their kids do an excellent job. Everything runs through their RB Kash Schwab. He is extremely talented. Runs very hard and tough. He is physical and has homerun speed. They do a great job moving him around and finding ways to get him the ball. Defensively They are big and fast. They are very sound in their technique and assignments. They don’t give you anything. They make you earn everything. We must have a great week of preparation and focus to give us the best chance and opportunity to compete with them on Thursday.”

Bridgeland Head Coach Lonnie Madison: “I feel good about where we are right now.  We are just trying to get better each week by evaluating the needs after each weekly game/scrimmage.    We needed to clean up penalties after our scrimmage and still working to get those numbers down (Most are effort plays so you can live with them but some procedural ones we want to eliminate).    Defense has played well both weeks, but we needed to tackle better coming off The Woodlands game and that was a big emphasis heading into Katy Tompkins game.   Kids worked hard and it was noticeably better in week 2.   Offensively we are doing a lot of good things.   Run game was solid against TWSH and Pass game produce most of the explosive plays.   Week 2 against Tompkins run game produced the explosive plays and pass game was inconsistent at times.   Again, consistency is something we are striving for on both sides of the ball each week.    Ridge Point is a very talented team, and we look forward to another good game to take another step forward as we head to District Play.”
