There were only 5 games last night, but 3 state champions were crowned in TAPPS and they were all fun matchups!

Both me and Tony went 5-0 last night!

Huntsville Alpha Omega 101, FW Covenant 56

This, the D2 title game, was supposed to be the best of the 3 TAPPS 6 man title games and it was definitely the wildest one for sure. All of the following stats are from LSCSN.

  • Second highest scoring 6 Man title game ever(Azle Christian School , Granbury 64 in 2024 TCAF D2)
  • 5th highest scoring 6 man game ever
  • Highest scoring TAPPS 6 man game ever

Waco Valor 51, Lake Jackson Brazosport 6

Valor wins D3 via Mercy rule IN ONLY THEIR SECOND YEAR OF VARSITY PLAY. Insane.

Pasadena First Baptist 54 Waco Vanguard 18

D1 title game – Congrats to Vanguard who when the team they were playing was in this very spot in 2022, they had just gone 0-10. What a Great Turnaround! But Pasadena goes back to back in a game that was actually 16-12 Pasadena at halftime. They recovered a Waco onside kick and returned it for a touchdown. They then got an interception, scored the very next play, and it was all over after that.

Gunter 45, Leonard 7

It was expected that all 4 regional Finals in 3AD2 would be blowouts, the semis are really where the fun starts. WE are halfway to a Wall/Gunter semi rematch and that its BOX OFFICE.

Refugio 27, Mason 13

That was closer than i expected but give credit to Mason for staying in this one. The Bobcats will play tonight’s San Augustine/Joaquin winner next Thursday at Cy Fair Federal Credit Union Stadium(aka the Berry Center) at 7 PM.

5 for Friday

  1. North Shore vs Dickinson – the 2 best GHA teams this year will go blow for blow and its gonna be awesome.
  2. Dallas Parish Episcopal vs Plano Prestonwood – The TAPPS D1 title game at 11 AM is a rematch of a one score game from earlier this year.
  3. Alvin Iowa Colony vs Richmond Randle – this is the 4th time in the last 2 years they have played. I will be at this game. Follow @txhsfb for drive by drive updates.
  4. Denton Ryan vs Aledo – Last year Aledo won the regular season matchup but Ryan won when it mattered. Will we see the same again this year?
  5. Bremond vs Mount Enterprise – Will Keegan Ash break Kens Hall’s decades long single season rushing record?
