The Katy Tigers used an efficient offense to defeat the Tompkins Falcons 41-7 Friday night at Rhodes Stadium in Katy.

The Tigers scored on all but 3 possessions on the night. One of those possessions was a one-play two-second possession to end the first half. The others were the opening drive of the night and the Tigers last possession of the game.

The efficiency was evident in the Tigers passing game where three quarterbacks were prefect on the night. Starter Gunner Nelson completed all 10 pass attempts for 190 yards and 2 TDs. Jakson Franklin completed all 3 pass attempts for 78 yards and Connor Morales completed his only attempt for 20 yards.

The game started with Tigers driving to the Falcon 22 before consecutive losses led to a turn over on downs at the Falcon 32-yard line.

Tompkins completed a 68-yard drive with a 4th down, 1 -yard completion from Wyatt Young to Caleb Blocker to stake the Falcons to 7-0 lead with 2:17 left in the fourth quarter.

Katy then drove 75 yards spanning into the second quarter to tie the game at 7 on a 12-run from Romel Jordan.

Following a Tompkins punt, the Tiger drove 70-yards culminating with a 4-yard pass from Gunner Nelson to Luke Carter to spot the Tigers to a 14-7 with 6:45 left in the first half.

Following a Tompkins turn over on downs, Katy drover 45 yards in only 2-plays, scoring on Nelson’s second TD pass of the night (this time 35 yards to Colton Sanders) to push their lead to 21-7 with 2:04 left in the 1st half.

The Tigers pushed their lead to 28-7 with 5:00 remaining in the 3rd quarter on a 1-yard Romel Jordan run.

Tremayne Hill added 2 TD runs for Katy in the 4th quarter (runs of 2 yards and 6 yards) to finish the scoring and stake Katy to a 41-7 win.

Katy is now 2-1 on the season and 1-0 in district play. The Tigers play Morton Ranch next Saturday.

Tompkins is now 1-2 on the season and 0-1 in district play. The Falcons play Cinco Ranch next Friday.
