Jordan has produced 216.0 passing yards per game and 170.6 rushing yards, giving quarterback Thomas Eugate plenty of opportunity to attack defenses through the air while still maintaining a productive ground game. Tompkins has been more run-oriented, averaging 196.8 rushing yards per game compared with 163.0 through the air.

For Jordan, Eugate has completed 74 of 120 passes for 973 yards, with six touchdowns and three interceptions. Sophomore Samuel Spichiger has also seen action, completing 10 of 13 passes for 107 yards and two touchdowns.

The Warriors’ passing game has a particularly productive target in senior Landon Williams, who has 22 receptions for 414 yards and four touchdowns. Sophomore Rush Williams has added 24 catches for 301 yards and two touchdowns, while senior Mo Poko has 25 receptions for 246 yards and a touchdown.

Tompkins counters with senior quarterback JP Vaclavik, who has completed 70 of 123 passes for 815 yards and six touchdowns. He has also contributed 172 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. The Falcons’ biggest weapon on the ground is senior Ethan Meadows, who has rushed for 623 yards and six touchdowns on 97 carries.

The Falcons also have a deep group of receiving options. Junior Alex Parnell has 13 catches for 188 yards, senior Dodavah Omobude has 12 for 118 yards and two touchdowns, and senior Carter Young has 11 receptions for 146 yards despite appearing in only two games.

Defensively, Jordan has been the more consistent unit statistically, allowing 20.8 points per game compared with 30.8 for Tompkins. Jordan’s defense has 324 tackles through five games, led by senior Carl Wesley with 41 and senior Braden Pino and junior Luke Pridham with 31 apiece. Pino has two tackles for loss, while Pridham has four.

Tompkins is led defensively by senior William Miller, who has 27 tackles, while senior Zach Jury has 23 and senior Nate Smith has 18. The Falcons have recorded two sacks as a team, with Miller and senior Cruz Herrman accounting for one each.

Special teams could also become important in a game between two teams that know each other well. Field position, ball security and execution on third down could help determine which offense gets the greater number of opportunities. That emphasis fits the approach of both coaches, with Jordan’s Mike Rabe stressing physical play, assignment execution and protecting the football, while Tompkins’ Todd McVey emphasized taking care of the controllables.

Players to Watch

Jordan

Thomas Eugate, QB/Sr.: Eugate has completed 74 of 120 passes for 973 yards with six touchdowns and three interceptions.
