Longview Tops West Mesquite 70-0

LONGVIEW- Alijah Johnson rushed for 104 yards and three touchdowns as Longview rolled to a 70-0 win over West Mesquite at Lobo Stadium.

Longview (10-0 overall, 7-0 district) got off to a fast start to take a 7-0 lead as Jalen Hale hauled in a short pass for a 4-yard touchdown from Jordan Allen. It was one of two touchdown catches for Hale, an Alabama commit, who also broke the Longview all-time receiving yardage record on this night according to Longview head coach John King.

West Mesquite (3-7, 0-7) struggled to generate anything on offense, going 3-and-out on their first three drives. Meanwhile, Longview continued to hit on all cylinders as Alijah Johnson reeled off a pair of touchdown runs of 37 and 21 yards to make the score, 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Longview extended the lead on their next possession when Johnson scored on a 12-yard run up the middle for his third touchdown of the first half.

Longview put the game away for good midway through the second quarter when Willie Nelson returned a punt 94-yards for a score to give Longview a 42-0 halftime lead.

With the win, Longview completed their 12th undefeated regular season in school history and the fifth under Coach King.
