Quick Cap and Videos: Sugar Land Logos Prep and Houston Emery-Weiner

The Houston Emery-Weiner Jaguars hosted the Sugar Land Logos Prep Lions on Saturday night at Caress Stadium in a TAPPS Sixman Division I District 2 matchup.

After several changes of possession the game was still scoreless when Barrett Zgarba returned a tip-drill interception for a touchdown and after the 2-point kick, Logos Prep led 8-0 with 2:07 remaining in the 1st quarter.

Emery-Weiner answered an the next drive on this run by Zac Laviage. The 2-point kick failed and Logos Prep led 8-6 with 1:17 left in the 1st quarter.

Early in the second quarter, Logos Prep scores on this pass with two broken tackles and barely cracking the end zone before the ball comes loose. The PAT was no good and the Lions led 14-6 with 7:11 remaining in the 2nd quarter.

Emery-Weiner found the end zone on this run from Laviage to cut the led to 14-12 with 2:53 left in the half.

Logos Prep opened up the score on these three plays before the half.

With that barrage of scoring, Logos Prep led 36-12 at the half.

Logos Prep continued to poor it on in the 3rd and a TD run and a field goal to push their lead to 44-12.

Emery-Weiner did battle back with a touchdown on the ensuing kickoff run and another touchdown later in the 4th quarter. Logos Prep added one more score and the final was Logos Prep 54, Emery-Weiner 26.

Logos Prep is now 5-2 on the season and 2-0 in district play. The Lions host Laredo St. Augustine (1-3, 1-1) Friday before wrapping up their regular season Saturday, 10/29 at San Antonio St. Mary’s Hall (5-0, 1-0).

Emery-Weiner is now 3-3 on the season and 0-1 in district play. The Jaguars host St. Mary’s Hall Saturday before concluding their regular season with games against Giddings State School (0-7, 0-2) and Laredo St. Augustine.
