I hope you had your popcorn handy last night as the Cy Falls Golden Eagles and the Langham Creek Lobos put on a very entertaining game at Cy FCU.
With 4:30 left in the game Langham Creek led by 2 (26-24) and Cy Falls was at their own 43-yard line. The game was far, far from over.
The Eagles marched 57 yards in 11 plays taking 3:15 off the clock to grab a 30-26 lead when Trey Morris darted into the end zone from 4-yards out leaving 1:15 on the clock. The attempt for a two-point conversion failed.
Langham Creek returned the kickoff to their own 30-yard line and struck quickly covering the 70 yards in only 3 plays leaving 32 seconds on the clock. Braylon Scott completed 2 passes to Jordan Washington (including a 2-yard TD pass), 1 pass to Jaquize Pettaway and drew a pass interference penalty in route to grabbing a 33-30 lead.
Cy Falls returned the kickoff to their own 36-yard line and marched 39 yards in 3 plays to setup a 33-yard Gustavo Romero field goal as time expired to send the game to overtime knotted at 33.
In overtime Langham Creek settled for a 21-yard field goal on their possession. QB Jakob Leavetts scored on a 4-yard run for Cy Falls on their possession and Cy Falls walked out with a 39-36 win.
Trey Morris had 39 carries for 281 yards and 2 TDs to go with 4 receptions for 27 yards and a 2-point conversion carry. Jakob Leavetts was 12-19 passing with a TD Pass to go with 18 carries for 98 yards and 2 TDs.
Cy Falls moves to 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in district play. The Golden Eagles play Bridgeland (1-3, 0-1) next Saturday.
Langham Creek falls to 2-3 on the season and 1-1 in district play. The Lobos play Cy Woods (3-2,1-1) next Friday.
