Team Preview: Bellville Brahmas

Bellville will be in district 10 of 4A division 2. This is largely the same as the district Bellville was in the past two years just with a different number. Sealy, Brookshire Royal, Sweeny, La Marque and Wharton all remain. The one change is the addition of 4AD1 drop down Columbia.

Head Coach: Grady Rowe

2021 Results: 12-1, 4AD2 Regional Semifinalists

Returning Starters: 7offense, 5 defense

Grady Rowe on his offensive players:

QB Reid McCann: “Unfortunately, our quarterback last year broke his broke his foot right before district play – Reid McCann – he’ll do a great job running our offense. “

Center Jakob Hranicky: “Big Red -Jakob Hranicky is a returning. He’ll be a three-year starter center. It starts up front with that guy. Smart. Just a leader.”

Tight End Bucky Koy: “Bucky Koy. Name He’ll be basically a three year starter returning at tight end for us. We’ll be able to move him around. He’s a really good one to have back.”

Offensive Line Aiden Tovar: “He’s about six three and a half. About three ten ,He’s going to be literally a big part of our offense.”

Offensive Line Marcus Smith: “Returning quick tackle. He’s about 6’3” 270-275. A big part.”

Halfback Sam Hranicky: “Kind of our physical old-school fullback he’s a returner there.”

Expect the defense to be led by Sophomore DE D.J. Sanders (75 tackles, 10 sacks, honorable mention all-state), LB Lane Lischka, DB Hunter Kunkel, DT Cory Richardson, and LB Landon Lischka.

Grady Rowe on the Brahmas upcoming season. “I think one of the big obvious things is we lose two division one football players. Richard Reese and Robert Briggs have been our explosive players for four years. The biggest thing that sticks out for us is replacing those guys and I don’t think you ever truly replaced two guys like that. We’ll be different than what we’ve been over the past know a couple of year but we’ve got a lot of tradition here. Our kids work extremely hard and our parents let us coach our kids hard. They expect us to hold them accountable for everything. We’re still gonna be successful. We’re still gonna be a good football team. We return seven players on the offensive side of the ball and five players on the defensive side. I like the guys that return a whole lot. They’re good hard-nosed high school football players. A couple of them will have an opportunity to move on. We’ll be a little bit different we won’t be quite as explosive. May not be in the gun as much as we have been. We’re a slot-t team. The last two years not quite as much slot-t as your typical slot t team is. We may be back to being a little bit more in our slot-t than what we have been. Those seven starters on offense are going to be big for us. We’ll be big and physical. Belleville Brahmas – what we’re known for. We’ll be back to that physical football.”
