I’ll let Head Coach Todd Moebes tell you about his players:
QB Ashton Dickens – “There wasn’t a whole lot of times where we looked back and say that was kind of a sophomore moment. Even going into game one he looked like he’d been there before. I think that certainly has to do with his preparation. He’s a very he’s a confident young man. He’s very poised – never too high never too low – and certainly sees himself being in the moment. Really excited about how he’s matured and grown going into his junior year.”
RB Sean McKinney – “Returning running back for us for two past two seasons…and feel that you know he could go to either one of those places (Katy/ Abilene Cooper) and fit in the back fields at either one of those schools.”
WR Nate Garcia – “Played as a sophomore. Looking for him to have a breakout junior year.”
WR/DB Diante Jackson – “A two-way player for us. He’s a returner certainly a receiver but he’s been a starting safety for the last three years. He was able to play as a freshman on the varsity. Looking for him, even though he’s had three good years, really for this kind of being the breakout year for him. The game’s really kind of slowing down and it should with how much experience that he has.”
WR/DB Quavon Reese – “He’ll be playing on both sides of the football. We’re real excited about how he’s matured. He was also a freshman on the varsity at one point in time.”
DB Trey Brown – “Another secondary who played as a sophomore last year. Eended up getting an injury about the fourth or fifth game that took him out the rest of the year. But in those first four or five games he really showed us that he’ll be able to play at a consistent level back there.”
OLB Treveon Hopkins – “Is an outside backer for us that started a year ago. He’s really coming in to his own. Really been pleased with his growth and development over this offseason.”
ILB Josh Ramos – “A versatile player for us who also plays outside backer. Played in the secondary some when he was a sophomore. He gives us some versatility and some things that they were able to do and kind of makes our defensive work inside backer wise.”
Lockhart is in district 13 of 5A Division 2. The only team they are in the same district as from the past two years is Kerville Tivy. New district-mates are Liberty Hill, San Antonio Veterans Memorial, Bastrop, San Antonio Pieper and Bastrop Cedar Creek.
