Head Coach: Jerry Prieto (30-12 as Crosby HFC)
2021 Results: 12-3 5AD2 State Semifinalists
Returning Starters: 7 offense, 3 defense
The Cougars move up to 5AD1 after making the state championship and state semifinals the past two years.
On offense QB Cyrin Miles (almost 2,500 yards and 32 TDS passing and over 1,300 yards and 20 TDs rushing in 2021) will have plenty of targets including Braden Womack (37 receptions, 9 TDS) and Kristian Roberson (16 receptions, 4 TDs).
Womack (66 tackles, 1 INT) will also playa key role on defense alongside LB Copelin Windfont (sophomore who started 2 games in 2021) and LB Ayden Jones (moving up from JV after sitting out varsity last year due to transfer issues).
Prieto likes the competition he sees in his team. “Our kids have been competing. Our kids are tough. It’s been fun to watch. There’s been some days the offense just totally whipped the defense and there’s been days where the defense is totally with the offense. It’s been good to see that competitive fire and see one side of the ball do well and then the other side kind of you strap it up, refocus, watch some film and come back the next day and make some of those adjustments on the mistakes they made the day before.”
Crosby moves into district 8 in 5A Division 1 and is aligned with Barbers Hill, Goose Creek Memorial, Baytown Lee, Baytown Sterling, Kingwood Park, La Porte, New Caney Porter and Port Arthur Memorial.
