Katy Cinco Ranch 23, Katy Mayde Creek 16

This was a huge game in the 19-6A race. It was lower scoring than I thought it would be. Now Mayde Creek has to beat Katy or get help in order to get into the playoffs. This likely means Katy will go Division 2 and Cinco will host a first round playoff game.
I’m so proud of my alma mater, Cinco Ranch. they took it on the chin the past couple years but are now playoff bound for the first time since 2022 in a really tough district. And they get to host in round 1!
Weather wreaks Havoc in Week 9
There’s bad weather expected pretty much everywhere this weekend – most DFW games were moved to last night while others moved games up early. Heres the list. I took out the Thursday games in the interest of finding your game quickly. Also please let me know if I missed one.
Aledo 72, Richland 10
The Bearcats are building up quite the dynasty.
Euless Trinity 24, Haslet Eaton 23(OT)
This is what I was talking about when I said “survival”. The Trojans survive a big scare. They scored in their OT possession went for and got 1. Eaton scored and went for 2 and the win and didn’t get it by thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis much as they were stopped short at about the half inch line. Trinity was this close to potentially missing the playoffs.
Lewisville 45, Hebron 43 (3OT)
This was probably game of the night in the state. This is a big rivalry game so I don’t read too much into the Farmers struggling.
Houston Wisdom 45, Houston Westside 28
The year was 1979. ESPN and CNN had just launched. Jimmy Carter was in the White House, and gas was 94 cents a gallon. It was also the last time Wisdom made the playoffs. With this win, the Generals are likely in the postseason for the first time in 46 years back when they were called Houston Lee.
Lancaster 64, Mesquite 20
Lancaster was down 14-7, then scored 57 of the last 63 points.

King avenges last years loss and clinches a playoff spot.
