I’ll be live at this game Thursday night so I thought I’d get myself up to speed before the game and share some of my research with you.
Why does this game matter?
Cinco Ranch is currently 5-1 in district play and would clinch a playoff berth with a win in this game. Mayde Creek is currently 3-2 in district play tied for fourth with Paetow. They hold the head-to-head tie-breaker thanks to their 36-34 win over Paetow in Week 5.
For Cinco Ranch this may be more about positioning than making the playoffs. They still have a chance to host a playoff game depending on the other teams making the playoffs.
For Mayde Creek they have a likely win remaining (against Seven Lakes) and likely loss remaining (against Katy). They can still make the playoffs with a loss in this game but it gets harder.

Projections For This Game
Dave Campbell’s Computer (otherwise known as Jerry Forest of pigskinprep.com) favors Cinco Ranch by 3.
Massey Ratings (masseyratings.com) favors Cinco Ranch by 11.
I have my own projector spreadsheet I use from time-to-time that looks at each team’s performance against their opponents average performance. That projector favors Mayde Creek by just under 3 points.
What I Expect to See
I think the key to this game will be Cinco Ranch’s response to Mayde Creek’s unique multiple offense. The Rams run from a number of different tight formations use a number of different options style offense and attempt to use their speed to outrun opponents and turn the corner.
Cinco Ranch has specialized in winning close district games. Of their 5 district wins, 3 have been by 7 or less points.
I expect this game to be decided by less than 1 score and be decided late in the game. Both teams have demonstrated an ability to move the ball late in games and don’t panic in close games.
