First off, I need to explain what this is and what this isn’t.

I have a history of attending Texas high school football games regardless of the rankings of the teams. I have been just as likely to be at a game between to sub .500 teams that have no chance of making the playoffs as I am to be at a game between two top 10 teams.

This lead to one prominent Texas high school football pundits labeling me a “true Texas High School Football sicko.”

I’ve embraced that label… and that concept.

I believe that all the teams and players are putting in a tremendous effort and deserve recognition and attention for doing so. Inevitably most attention will focus on the top ranked teams and teams competing for district titles, etc. If I can help shine some light on teams and players that aren’t near the top then I am glad to do so.

This is report is an attempt to do just that. It is not meant to bring embarrassment to any team or player.

For the purposes of this report, I will focus on games where both teams have a losing record and are ranked in the bottom 25% of their classification in the computer rankings I use.

For now I will limit this to 11-man UIL teams because I have that data most easily available for those teams.

Using this criteria, I would have had these games highlighted for 6A in Week 5.

Week 5 – 6A

• (195) Irving MacArthur (1-2) vs. (243) Irving Nimitz (0-3)

MacArthur 58, Nimitz 13

MacArthur freshman running back Jayden Burnett rushed for 165 yards with 2 touchdown on 17 carries.

• (196) Alvin (1-3) vs. (239) Pasadena South Houston (0-3)

Alvin 38, South Houston 6

Alvin led the entire game jumping out to 10-0 lead after the first quarter and 24-6 lead at halftime.

Five different Yellowjackets found the end zone in this game. Logan Lebeau, Cameron Fobbs, Marcus Canales and Anthony DeSanto all rushed for TDS. Kollin Breaux caught a DeSanto pass for a TD.

Austin High 35, Del Valle 7

Del Valle grabbed a 7-0 lead before Austin ripped off 35 straight for the win.
