A quick look at the Greater Houston Area districts headed into Week 9.

Each team’s remaining schedule is listed after their current district record.

13-6A

Willis (6-0) –OPEN, The Woodlands, Oak Ridge

The Woodlands (6-0) –Caney Creek, Willis, OPEN

Oak Ridge (4-1) –College Park, Caney Creek, Willis

College Park (3-2) –Oak Ridge, New Caney, Conroe

Grand Oaks (2-4) –Conroe, OPEN, Cleveland

New Caney (1-4) –Cleveland, College Park, Caney Creek

Caney Creek (1-4) –The Woodlands, Oak Ridge, New Caney

Conroe (1-4) –Grand Oaks, Cleveland, College Park

Cleveland (0-5) –New Caney, Conroe, Grand Oaks

Week 8: Oak Ridge, Willis and The Woodlands all record wins as expected. Grand Oaks pulls up big win over New Caney.

Tony’s take: Willis and The Woodlands should still settle the district title when they meet Week 10. I still think Oak Ridge is primed to grab the 3rd spot. New Caney’s loss throws the 4th spot up for grabs between College Park, Grand Oaks and New Caney.

Tony’s projected finish: 1) Willis, 2) The Woodlands, 3) Oak Ridge, 4) College Park

Tony’s projected seedings: D1-1 The Woodlands; D1-2 College Park; D2-1 Willis; D2-2 Oak Ridge

Note: The team to keep a close eye on is College Park. I have all three of their remaining games as within single digits and they win two of those they should be a playoff team.

14-6A

Westfield (4-0) –MacArthur, Davis, Aldine

Nimitz (3-1) –Aldine, Spring, DeKaney

DeKaney (3-1) – Spring, MacArthur, Nimitz

Spring (3-1) – DeKaney, Nimitz, Eisenhower

Davis (1-3) – Eisenhower, Westfield, MacArthur

Eisenhower (1-3) – Davis, Aldine, Spring

MacArthur (1-3) – Westfield, DeKaney, Davis

Aldine (0-4) – Nimitz, Eisenhower, Westfield

Week 8: DeKaney, Nimitz, Westfield and Spring all win as expected.

Tony’s take: Davis didn’t pull off a win against Nimitz so this is district has solidified a bit.

Tony’s projected finish: 1) Westfield, 2) DeKaney, 3) Nimitz, 4) Spring

Tony’s projected seedings: D1-1 Westfield; D1-2 Spring; D2-1 DeKaney; D2-2 Nimitz

Note: It would now take multiple upsets to change the playoff teams. The only thing that may change is the ordering of the D2 teams. DeKaney and Nimitz meet Week 11 and the winner will likely be the D2-1 seed and the other the D2-2 seed.

15-6A

Klein Collins (4-0) – Klein Cain, Tomball, Klein

Tomball (3-1) – Klein Forest, Klein Collins, Klein Cain

Tomball Memorial (3-1) – Klein, Klein Oak, Waller

Klein Cain (3-1) – Klein Collins, Waller, Tomball

Klein Oak (1-3) – Waller, Tomball Memorial, Klein Forest

Klein Forest (1-3) – Tomball, Klein, Klein Oak

Waller (1-3) – Klein Oak, Klein Cain, Tomball Memorial

Klein (0-4) – Tomball Memorial, Klein Forest, Klein Collins

Week 8: Tomball Memorial pulls off the win over Tomball. Klein Collins and Klein Cain get expected wins. Waller gets it’s first ever 6A district win.

Tony’s take: Kelin Collins is the clear favorite to win the district. Tomball, Tomball Memorial and Klein Cain should be the remaining playoff teams.

Tony’s projected finish: 1) Klein Collins, 2) Tomball Memorial, 3) Tomball, 4) Klein Cain

Tony’s projected seedings: D1-1 Klein Collins; D1-2 Klein Cain; D2-1 Tomball Memorial; D2-2 Tomball

Note: Tomball, Tomball Memorial and Klein Cain should all clinch a playoff spot with one win in their remaining three games.

16-6A

Cy Springs (4-0) – Cy Falls, Cy Woods, Bridgeland

Bridgeland (4-0) – Cy Woods, Cy Lakes, Cy Springs

Cy Falls (3-1) – Cy Springs, Cy Park, Cy Ranch

Cy Ranch (2-2) – Cy Lakes, Langham, Cy Falls

Cy Woods (2-2) – Bridgeland, Cy Springs, Cy Parks

Cy Lakes (1-3) – Cy Ranch, Bridgeland, Langham Creek

Langham Creek (0-4) – Cy Park, Cy Ranch, Cy Lakes

Cy Park (0-4) – Langham Creek, Cy Falls, Cy Woods

Week 8: Bridgeland gets a big win over Cy Ranch. Cy Falls, Cy Lakes and Cy Springs were all winners.

Tony’s take: Bridgeland is the clear favorite to win the district now.  Cy Springs and Bridgeland face off Week 11.

Tony’s projected finish: 1) Bridgeland, 2) Cy Falls, 3) Cy Springs, 4) Cy Ranch

Tony’s projected seedings: D1-1 Bridgeland; D1-2 Cy Ranch; D2-1 Cy Falls; D2-2 Cy Springs

Note: The game this week between Cy Falls and Cy Springs will go a long way to determining 2nd place in district. Cy Ranch has already beaten Cy Woods and would have an edge in any tie-breaker against the Wildcats.

17-6A

Cy Fair (4-0) – Northbrook, Spring Woods, Cy Ridge, Memorial

Memorial (4-0) – Cy Ridge, Jersey Village, Stratford, Cy Fair

Stratford (3-1) – Spring Woods, Cy Ridge, Memorial, Jersey Village

Jersey Village (3-1) – Cy Creek, Memorial, Northbrook, Stratford

Cy Ridge (2-2) – Memorial, Stratford, Cy Fair, Cy Creek

Spring Woods (0-4) – Stratford, Cy Fair, Cy Creek, Northbrook

Cy Creek (0-4) – Jersey Village, Northbrook, Spring Woods, Cy Ridge

Northbrook (0-4) – Cy Fair, Cy Creek, Jersey Village, Spring Woods

Week 8: Jersey Village, Memorial, Cy Fair and Stratford were all winners.

Tony’s take: Given the remaining schedules, I think the four playoff teams a pretty clear in this district with only the order of finish behind Cy Fair somewhat up in the air.

Tony’s projected finish: 1) Cy Fair, 2) Stratford, 3) Jersey Village, 4) Memorial

Tony’s projected seedings: D1-1 Cy Fair; D1-2 Jersey Village; D2-1 Stratford; D2-2 Memorial

Note: I think the only think that could possibly change on this is the D2 seeding with Memorial and Stratford swapping spots but I think that is a long shot.

18-6A

Lamar (4-0) – Chavez, OPEN, Bellaire 6-0

Heights (2-1) – Westbury, Sam Houston, Chavez 5-1

Bellaire (2-1) – Sam Houston, Chavez, Lamar 4-2

Westbury (2-2) – Heights, Westside, OPEN 2-3 toss Westside

Sam Houston (1-2) – Bellaire, Heights, Westside 1-5

Westside (1-3) – OPEN, Westbury, Sam Houston 2-3 toss Westbury

Chavez (0-3) – Lamar, Bellaire, Heights

Week 8: Bellaire edges Westbury. Heights and Lamar win as expected.

Tony’s take: With Bellaire’s win over Westbury they have moved into the 3rd playoff spot and Bellaire drops to #4

Tony’s projected finish:1) Lamar, 2) Heights, 3) Bellaire, 4) Westbury

Tony’s projected seedings: D1-1 Lamar; D1-2 Bellaire; D2-1 Heights; D2-Westbury

Note: Westbury vs Westside is likely to determine the 4th playoff spot. If Westbury wins you get the alignment above. If Westside wins you get Bellaire and Westside as your D1 teams and Lamar goes D2 along with Westbury. In that case it would be D1-1 Bellaire, D1-2 Westside

19-6A

Katy (5-0) – Cinco Ranch, Seven Lakes, Taylor

Jordan (4-1) – Taylor, Tompkins, Morton Ranch

Taylor (4-1) – Jordan, Paetow, Katy

Cinco Ranch (4-2) – Katy, OPEN, Seven Lakes

Tompkins (3-2) – Mayde Creek, Jordan, Paetow

Mayde Creek (2-4) – Tompkins, Morton Ranch, OPEN

Seven Lakes (1-4) – Paetow, Katy, Cinco Ranch

Morton Ranch (1-5) – OPEN, Mayde Creek, Jordan

Paetow (0-5) – Seven Lakes, Taylor, Tompkins

Week 8: Cinco Ranch, Jordan, Taylor and Tompkins all win.

Tony’s Take: No changes – Katy and Jordan seem like playoff locks at this point. Taylor, Cinco Ranch and Tompkins are competing for the final two playoff spots in my opinion.

Tony’s projected finish: 1) Katy, 2) Jordan, 3) Tompkins, 4) Taylor

Tony’s projected seedings: D1-1 Katy: D1-2 Tompkins; D2-1 Jordan; D2-2 Taylor

Note: I have this projected as 3-way tie for 3rd between Tompkins, Taylor and Cinco Ranch. In that scenario Tompkins and Taylor would be the playoff teams. Tompkins is pretty much a playoff lock barring a major upset. I have Taylor as losing to Jordan and Katy but even with that, they are likely a playoff team as long at they beat Paetow Week 10.

20-6A

Ridge Point (6-0) – Austin, Travis, OPEN

Hightower (4-1) – Elkins, Clements, Austin

George Ranch (4-2) – Dulles, OPEN, Elkins

Travis (4-2) – OPEN, Ridge Point, Bush

Austin (3-2) – Ridge Point, Bush, Hightower

Clements (1-4) – Bush, Hightower, Dulles

Dulles (1-4) – George Ranch, Elkins, Clements

Bush (1-4) – Clements, Austin, Travis

Elkins (0-5) – Hightower, Dulles, George Ranch

Week 8: Travis, Bush, Ridge Point and Hightower were all winners.

Tony’s Take: Travis’ win over Austin gives them the inside track for the 4th playoff spot.

Tony’s projected finish: 1) Ridge Point, 2) Hightower, 3) George Ranch, 4) Travis

Tony’s projected seedings: D1-1 Ridge Point; D1-2 Travis; D2-1 Hightower, D2-2 George Ranch

Note:  Austin has a very difficult schedule remaining and it is hard to see them winner more than 1 game. Geroge Ranch’s prior win over Travis gives them inside track of the 3rd spot.

21-6A

North Shore (4-0) – Humble, Atascocita, Kingwood

Atascocita (4-0) – North Shore, Summer Creek

Summer Creek (3-1) – United, King, Atascocita

CE King (3-1) – Atascocita, Summer Creek, West Brook

Humble (1-3) – North Shore, Kingwood, United

Kingwood (1-3) – West Brook, Humble, North Shore

Beaumont United (0-4) – Summer Creek, West Brook, Humble

West Brook (0-4) – Kingwood, United, King

Week 8: CE King, North Shore, Atascocita and Summer Creek all record wins.

Tony’s Take: I think the top 4 are locked in with the only thing left to be determined is the order of finish to be determined Week 10 when North Short plays Atascocita and Summer Creek plays King.

Tony’s projected finish: 1) North Shore, 2) Atascocita, 3) Summer Creek 4) King

Tony’s projected seedings: D1-1 North Shore; D1-2 Atascocita; D2-1 Summer Creek; D2-2 King

Note: The outcome of the Week 10 games will not change the D1 and D2 teams just the seeding within the divisions.

22-6A

Dobie (4-0) –Rayburn, South Houston, OPEN

Channelview (2-1) – Deer Park, Pasadena, Pasadena Memorial

Deer Park (2-1) – Channelview, Sam Rayburn, South Houston

Pasadena Memorial (2-2) – Pasadena, OPEN, Channelview

South Houston (2-2) – OPEN, Dobie, Deer Park

Rayburn (0-3) – Dobie, Deer Park, Pasadena

Pasadena (0-3) – Pasadena Memorial, Channelview, Rayburn

Week 8: Dobie edges Channelview in overtime to put a virtual lock on the district crown. Deer Park and South Houston also win.

Tony’s Take: I think the four playoff teams will be Dobie, Deer Park, Pasadena Memorial and Channelview with the only think to be determined being the order of finish between Pasadena Memorial and Channelview when they play Week 11.

Tony’s projected finish: 1) Dobie, 2) Deer Park, 3) Pasadena Memorial, 4) Channelview

Tony’s projected seedings: D1-1 Dobie; D1-2 Deer Park; D2-1 Pasadena Memorial; D2-2 Channelview

Note: If Channelview beats Memorial Week 11 the D2 seedings would flop.

23-6A

Dawson (4-0) – Shadow Creek, Elsik, Alvin

Pearland (3-1) – Taylor, Strake Jesuit, Hastings

Shadow Creek (3-1) – Dawson, Taylor, Strake Jesuit

Alief Taylor (2-2) – Pearland, Shadow Creek, Elsik

Strake Jesuit (2-2) – Hastings, Pearland, Shadow Creek

Alief Elsik (1-3) – Alvin, Dawson, Taylor

Alief Hastings (1-3) – Strake Jesuit, Alvin, Pearland

Alvin (0-4) – Elsik, Hastings, Dawson

Week 8: Dawson knocks off Pearland creating a showdown this week with Shadow Creek with the district title in play.

Tony’s Take: I have the top 3 teams as Pearland, Dawson and Shadow Creek with the 4th playoff spot up for grabs between Taylor, Hastings and Strake Jesuit. The order of top 3 is up for grabs. If Dawson beats Shadow Creek this week it’s a clear 1, 2, 3 of Dawson, Pearland and Shadow Creek. If Shadow Creek wins, there could be a 3-way tie for first.

Tony’s projected finish: 1) Dawson, 2) Shadow Creek, 3) Pearland, 4) Alief Taylor

Tony’s projected seedings: D1-1 Pearland; D1-2 Alief Taylor; D2-1 Dawson; D2-2 Shadow Creek

Note: There is a lot up in the air in 236A. The order of finish between the top 3 is very much undetermined. Alief Taylor has already beaten Jesuit and would hold the tie-breaker.

24-6A

Dickinson (3-0) – Clear Lake, Clear Creek, Clear Brook

Clear Creek (3-0) – Clear Springs, Dickinson, Clear Falls

Clear Falls (2-1) – Brazoswood, Clear Lake, Clear Creek

Clear Brook (2-2) – OPEN, Clear Springs, Dickinson

Clear Springs (2-2) – Clear Lake, Clear Creek, Clear Brook

Clear Lake (0-3) – Dickinson, Clear Falls, Brazoswood

Brazoswood (0-4) – Clear Falls, OPEN, Clear Lake

Week 8: Clear Creek, Clear Springs and Dickinson all won.

Tony’s take: I am very confident in Dickinson, Clear Falls and Clear Springs as the top three teams.

Tony’s projected finish: 1) Dickinson, 2) Clear Falls, 3) Clear Springs, 4) Clear Creek

Tony’s projected seedings: D1-1 Dickinson; D1-2 Clear Springs; D2-1 Clear Falls, D2-2 Clear Creek

Note: With win over Clear Brook in Week 8, Clear Creek now is in position to grab the 4th spot.

8-5AD1

Port Arthur Memorial (5-0) – Lee, Hill, Kingwood Park

La Porte (5-1) – Sterling, Crosby, OPEN

Barbers Hill (4-1) – Kingwood Park, Port Arthur Memorial, Porter

Kingwood Park (4-2) – Barbers Hill, OPEN, Port Arthur Memorial

New Caney Porter (3-2) – Goose Creek Memorial, Lee, Barbers Hill

Baytown Lee (2-3) – Port Arthur Memorial, Porter, Sterling

Crosby (1-5) – OPEN, La Porte, Goose Creek Memorial

Baytown Sterling (0-5) – La Porte, Goose Creek Memorial, Lee

Goose Creek Memorial (0-5) – Porter, Sterling, Crosby

Week 8: Port Arthur Memorial, Kingwood Park, Crosby and La Porte were winners.

Tony’s take: I think the four teams are likely to be Port Arthur Memorial, Barbers Hill, La Porte and Porter. La Porte beat Barbers Hill in Week 5, so they have an advantage in tiebreakers against Barbers Hill. Porter has a Week 3 win over Kingwood Park, so they have an advantage in tie breakers over Kingwood Park.

Tony’s projected finish: 1) Port Arthur Memorial, 2) La Porte, 3) Barbers Hill, 4) Porter

Note: This district matches up against 7-5AD1 in the opening round of the playoffs. 7-5AD1 is a DFW/ East Texas based district. The top two finishers will get a home game while the 3rd and 4th place teams will have to travel to DFW or East Texas for a 1st round matchup. The likely top two teams in 7-5AD1 are Longview and Forney. Barbers Hill would be looking at trips of 211 miles or 267 miles. Porter would be looking at trips of 192 miles or 227 miles. So, you see how important grabbing a top 2 seed is.

9-5AD1

Galveston Ball (5-0) – Waltrip, Northside, Wisdom

Houston Madison (5-1) – Wisdom, OPEN, Sterling

Houston Wisdom (4-1) – Madison, Sterling, Ball

Houston Sterling (4-1) – Northside, Wisdom, Madison

Houston Milby (1-5) – Sharpstown, Austin, OPEN

Houston Northside (0-5) – Sterling, Ball, Sharpstown

Houston Sharpstown (0-5) – Milby, Waltrip, Northside

Week 8: Ball, Austin, Madison and Sterling were all winners.

Tony’s take: I see Ball as the clear favorite for the district crown. I see Sterling/ Madison Week 11 as decided 2nd and 3rd. This week’s game between Wisdom and Waltrip may solidify the 4th spot.

Tony’s projected finish: 1) Ball, 2) Sterling, 3) Madison, 4) Waltrip

Note: While Wisdom is 4-1 right now, their schedule is backloaded and they face their 3 toughest opponents on the season over the next three weeks. They will need to pull an upset (preferably over Waltrip this week) to stay in the playoff hunt.

10-5AD1

Magnolia (5-1) – Manvel, Foster, OPEN

Angleton (3-2) – Friendswood, Magnolia West, Kempner

Rosenberg Terry (1-4) – Magnolia West, Kempner, Manvel

Richmond Foster (1-5) – OPEN, Magnolia, Fulshear

Fort Bend Kempner (0-5) – Fulshear, Terry, Angleton

Week 8: Magnolia, Friendswood, Fulshear and Manvel all win.

Tony’s take: Fulshear has already beaten the teams close behind them in the standings and is the overwhelming favorite for the district crown. Magnolia has also already beaten their closest competition and is the clear favorite to finish 2nd. Angleton, Manvel, Magnolia West and Friendswood are competing for the 3rd and 4th playoff spots.

Tony’s projected finish: 1) Fulshear, 2) Magnolia, 3) Angleton, 4) Magnolia West

Note:  Manvel has already lost to Angleton and Magnolia West the teams they would be likely to compete against for the fourth spot. Their win over Friendswood is the one bright spot when it comes to possible tie-breakers.

Nederland (3-1) – Galena Park, PNG, Texas City

Texas City (3-1) – Dayton, Santa Fe, Nederland

Week 8: PNG and Santa Fe win handily. Marshall and Texas escape upset bids.

Tony’s take: I think the top four teams are PNG, Texas City, Fort Bend Marshall and Nederland.

Tony’s projected finish: 1) Port Neches-Groves, 2) Texas City, 3) Fort Bend Marshall, 4) Nederland

Note: Nederland’s Week 6 win over Dayton gives them a big advantage over Dayton.

Lamar Consolidated (0-4) – Randle, Montgomery, OPEN

Montgomery (0-4) – OPEN, Lamar Consolidated, Rudder

Week 8: Brenham, Lake Creek and Randle win.

Tony’s take: Lake Creek has already beaten Randle. A win this week Huntsville will all but clinch the district title for the Lions. Brenham/ Rudder this week will be key in determining 4th.

Tony’s projected finish: 1) Lake Creek, 2) Randle, 3) Huntsville, 4) Brenham

Note: Randle/ Huntsville Week 11 should decide 2nd and 3rd.

10-4AD1

Livingston (1-1) – Vidor, Splendora, Lumberton

Huffman Hargrave (1-1) – Lumberton, Vidor, LCM

Vidor (0-2) – Livingston, Huffman Hargrave, Splendora

Splendora (0-2) – LCM, Livingston, Vidor

Week 8: Lumberton, LCM and Huffman-Hargrave win.

Tony’s take: Vidor open’s 0-2 against Lumberton and LCM I still have them finishing 3rd in district.

Tony’s projected finish: 1) Lumberton, 2) LCM, 3) Vidor, 4) Livingston

Note: Lumberton/ LCM Week 10 is likely to determine the district crown.

Houston Scarborough (0-4) – North Forest, Furr, Washington

Houston Washington (0-4) – Yates, Worthing, Scarborough

Week 8:  Furr, Yates, Worthing and Wheatley all win.

Tony’s take: Yates and Worthing look to clearly be playoff teams and meet Week 11 to likely determine the district crown. There is currently a four-way tie for 3rd-6th at 2-2 in district.

Tony’s projected finish: 1) Yates, 2) Worthing, 3) North Forest, 4) Furr

Note: The teams in the four-way play each other a lot the rest of the way and the outcome of those games will determine the 3rd and 4th spots. All three of Kashmere’s remaining games are against teams in the tie. North Forest and Wheatley have 2 games. Furr has 1.

12-4AD1

Needville (4-0) – Bay City, OPEN, Iowa Colony

Iowa Colony (3-0) – El Campo, Bay City, Needville

Bay City (2-1) – Needville, Iowa Colony, Stafford

Stafford (1-2) – Navasota, El Campo, Bay City

El Campo (1-2) – Iowa Colony, Stafford, Brazosport

Navasota (1-3) – Stafford, Brazosport, OPEN

Brazosport (0-4) – OPEN, Navasota, El Campo

Week 8: Iowa Colony and Stafford win as expected. Needville wins big over El Campo.

Tony’s take: With Needville’s win over El Campo, they are now in discuss for the district title. If Iowa Colony beats El Campo this week, then the Week 11 Needville/ Iowa Colony game with decide the crown.

Tony’s projected finish: 1) Iowa Colony, 2) Needville, 3) Bay City, 4) El Campo

Note: This could wind up in a 3-way tie for 3rd between El Campo, Bay City and Navasota. All games between these teams have already been played and the differential is already established. El Campo would appear to have the advantage in a 3-way tie.

9-4AD2

Week 8: WOS, Hamshire-Fannett and Silsbee all win.

Tony’s take: This week is a big week in 9-4AD2 with Hamshire-Fannett and Silsbee facing off in what should determine the district crown. Jasper and WOS also face off in the game that should determine 3rd and 4th.

Tony’s projected finish: 1) Silsbee, 2) Hamshire-Fannett, 3) Jasper, 4) West Orange-Stark

Note: It would take a series of upsets for anyone other than those four to grab a playoff berth.

10-4AD2

Tony’s projected finish: 1) Bellville, 2) Sweeny, 3) Royal 4) Royal

Note: The team I have projected 5th (Sealy) has already lost to Columbia (Week 5) and will need multiple upsets to make the playoffs.

Hardin (0-3) – Kirbyville, East Chambers, Buna

Buna (0-3) – Anahuac, Tarkington, Hardin

Week 8: Kirbyville, Orangefield and East Chambers will in week 8.

Tony’s take: Anahuac’s loss to East Chambers scrambles things up in 10-3AD1. The four playoffs remain Kirbyville, Orangefield, East Chambers and Anahuac but the order of finish changes.

Tony’s projected finish: 1) Kirbyville, 2) Orangefield, 3) East Chambers, 4) Anahuac

Note: Orangefield/ Kirbyville Week 10 could determine the district title.

Tony’s projected finish: 1) Tidehaven, 2) East Bernard, 3) Boling, 4) Van Vleck

Note: A three-way tie for fourth at 2-4 between Van Vleck, Brazos and Rice Consolidated is still possible. Key game is Van Vleck vs Rice Consolidated this week.
